CAPTION 2012 is nearly upon us! Old hands will already know most or all of the following, but a few reminders:
CAPTION will once again be at the East Oxford Community Centre, on the corner of Princes Street and Cowley Road in Oxford (postcode OX4 1HU).
- There is free parking in streets adjacent to the venue but only for a couple of hours, so to be on the safe side, if you're driving, there are car parks on Union Street, OX4 1JP (2 streets away) and off St Clements, opposite The Old Black Horse, OX4 1DS (4 streets away) at approx. £1/hr
- If you're coming by 'Oxford Tube' bus, there's a stop on St Clements, five mins walk from Caption.
- If you're coming by train, it's about half an hour walk to Caption, or the number 5 bus from the train station will take you right down Cowley Road to the venue.
- The bar at the Community Centre opens at 10am for drinks and noon for booze.
More venue information is also available on the CAPTION website: http://caption.org/2012/venue
If you're in Oxford on the Friday night, we're having an informal meet and greet at the nearby Angel and Greyhound Pub from 8pm - http://www.youngs.co.uk/pub-detail.asp?PubID=355
- they stop serving food at 8.30pm, so if you come along and are peckish, order when you arrive!
If you have a blog, facebook or twitter presence, it would be fantastic if you could mention Caption over the next week, so we can get as many visitors as possible - the programme, if you'd like to link to it, is here: http://caption.org/2012/programme
See you next weekend!
The gents from the Comic Gosh!p comic book reading group (that takes place every month at Gosh! London) will running one of their very popular sessions at this year's Caption. On the table will be Maus by Art Spiegelman and My Cardboard Life by Philippa Rice. A study in contrasts! Bring your own copies of these books along and join in the discussion on the Sunday.

Sarah McIntyre ( jabberworks) has designed this year's fabulously fun and fishy t-shirt - available in unfitted and women's sizes. Please order in advance by mailing firstname.lastname@example.org . More information on the sizes available can be found at the Caption website.
CAPTION2012 is go! We're back in the same friendly venue - East Oxford Community Centre - with this year's theme of SUMMER SPECIAL. Think bumper fun, think favourite characters together in mad one-off stories, think Marval swimsuit specials (or rather, don't!).
We've had to move the date again from July to the 18th and 19th of August, for which apologies are due: this is the last such change, we promise.
To avoid a clash with the Manchester MCM Expo, Caption will now take place on the weekend of July 14th-15th. Hope you can make it!
Save the date: Caption 2012 will be from the 21st-22nd July, celebrating its 21st year. More info soon.
Alex Fitch has let us know about this week's radio show::
Panel Borders: Comic Book Caption(s)
Starting a month of shows about comic book shops, we have three interviews recorded at Oxford’s small press comics convention ‘Caption’. Alex Fitch talks to Doctor Who comic illustrator Al Davison, who runs a graphic novels and art supply shop in Coventry and to former Gay Comics writer Will Morgan, one of the proprietors of a comic book shop in Putney which specialises in classic British titles. Also, 2000AD artist P.J. Holden is interviewed by comics journalist Matt Badham, about the shops he frequented while growing up in Belfast.
5pm, Thursday 04/08/11, Resonance 104.4 FM (London) / streamed at www.resonancefm.com / podcast after broadcast at www.panelborders.wordpress.com
