Here's the striking design for this years Caption t-shirt by tozocomic (David O'Connell).

To comply with our austerity theme we will shortly be asking for pre-orders or expressions of interest from those who would like a t-shirt, so that we only print as many as needed.

Just around the corner from the Caption venue is local ice cream parlour George and Delia. The G&D parlours make their own ice cream and have been known to make flavours on the request of 30 or more people.

So, if Austerity Caption was an ice cream, what flavour would it be?

Let us know in the comments below...

Call for Artwork & Articles
As usual we will be creating a souvenir programme and are looking for contributions from the comics community. You don't have to attending Caption to contribute, as in this year of Austerity we know not everyone will be able to make it along. All contributors will receive a copy of the programme.

This year's theme is Austerity, as we thought this might be appropriate to the current climate in the UK! So, this could cover anything from the cheapest way to produce comics, to comics about self-sufficiency/grow your own, to revolutionary thoughts caused by austerity... however you want to interpret the theme. So, if you have an illustration, comic strip idea or article that you think will fit the bill drop Jay a line at jay.eales@googlemail.com

We also have our first item for the Exhibition and Auction, which is the original artwork for The Girly Comic #5 cover (as seen on my icon) by Tim Keable. Doesn't she look austere? :-)

Austerity Caption Colour Flyer

Caption is the longest running comic convention in the UK, and we celebrate small press and indie press comics.

This year's theme is Austerity, as we thought this might be appropriate to the current climate in the UK! So, this could cover anything from the cheapest way to produce comics, to comics about self-sufficiency/grow your own, to revolutionary thoughts caused by austerity... however you want to interpret the theme.

I you have any ideas for things you'd like to see at Austerity Caption, or would like to be involved, then just let us know.

As usual we won't be having dealer/exhibitor tables, but will instead run the Caption table. This allows you to drop off your comics, we'll sell them for you for a 10% fee of anything sold, while you enjoy the rest of the con... or just sit in the bar!

More news on guests, workshops & panels will be added as we confirm items.

Attendance fee is £5 a day (to be confirmed), or you can volunteer to be a gopher during the weekend for free entry.

We have just heard that our Treasurer and Caption Table Supremo, Andrew Stitt is ill and probably won't make it to Caption. Therefore, we would greatly appreciate people helping out on the Caption table this coming weekend. Anything from 10 minutes upwards would be great.
